Furniture Today: Delta Children donates cribs and mattresses to military families
Company donations exceed $328,000 during 2018 Safe Sleep Campaign.
NEW YORK – Nursery and youth furniture specialist Delta Children has recently donated more than $328,000 to military families as part of its 2018 Safe Sleep Campaign.
This month, in honor of Military Appreciation Month, the company participated in three separate baby shower events in which it partnered with Operation Homefront to support military families across the country and also help ensure babies have a safe place to sleep.
This included a May 11 event in Fort Dix, N.J., in which 75 new and expecting military parents took part in a baby shower where they also were educated on the importance of safe sleep and received a donation of cribs, changing tables, and mattresses worth more than $42,000.
Other events during the month of May have taken place in Bremerton, Wash., and Colorado Springs, Colo., where a total of 200 cribs totaling more than $57,000 were donated to military families.
In March, the company held a Safe Sleep Campaign event at Fort Bragg, N.C., where 500 cribs and mattresses totaling more than $228,000 were donated to families through the USO (United Service Organizations) of North Carolina. Delta Children President Joseph Shamie delivered a presentation at the base to attendees on important life-saving tips for their newborns.
The company also gave out Safe Sleep resources and provided safety tip presentations to attendees during each event to help remind parents of the importance of creating a safe sleep environment for the newest members of their families.
“Since Delta Children was founded over 50 years ago, we have been devoted to one mission: finding a safe place for every baby to sleep,” Shamie said. “It is extremely humbling to have the opportunity to give back to families, but in particular military families that put their lives on the line to keep our own families safe. We are very honored to play a part in so many parents' journeys to ensure that their children are safe and have the opportunity to grow up and make an impact on the world.”
