5 Valentine’s Day Kid’s Crafts to Make as Gifts

There are many ways to show how you appreciate or love someone. You may buy your kid candy or toys during Valentine’s Day, but have you ever thought about them giving a family member a gift? To spread the love, we’ve compiled five easy Valentine’s Day crafts for your child to make and give to someone as a gift if they want!

  1. Heart Wreath

This adorable and quick-to-make heart wreath is great to hang up anywhere in the house. You will need:

  • Red, White and Pink Cardstock Paper – 8.5” x 11”
  • Ribbon
  • Scissors
  • Stapler

Step 1: Cut out 9 strips of the cardstock paper (3 of each color), to ~1.25 inches wide x 11 inches long

Step 2: Fold each strip in half

Step 3: Curve the ends of the cardstock paper inwards to create a heart shape so that they can staple the two ends (inward arches) of it. Two strips must have a ribbon attached so that the wreath can be hung

Step 4: Cut a 20-inch long ribbon and create the heart shape with the strip and slide the ribbon in between the two inward arches. Staple the ribbon so that it’s in place.

Repeat the same steps for the second heart so that the ribbon is stapled in place in the second heart too. To connect all the hearts together, your kid will need to line up the bottom points of the hearts and staple them together around the middle and close to the back edge to hide the staples. There should be one heart in between the two hearts with the ribbon. Continue stapling the hearts together until a circle is formed.

  1. Paper Heart Garland

Garlands are one of the most popular decoration items hung in bedrooms, so this is perfect for someone who loves hearts and decorating their room. You will need:

  • 12” x 12” of scrapbook paper in pink, red, and white
  • Scissors
  • Ruler
  • Glue
  • Hole Puncher
  • Twine

Step 1: Cut around 6 or 8 strips of scrapbook paper to 12” x 1”.

Step 2: Fold the paper in half

Step 3: Measure from the top of the folded strip down to 3.5 inches so that you can punch a hole on both sides.

Step 4: Form the heart. Curve the ends of the cardstock inwards. To keep them in that shape, staple the ends together

Step 5: String one heart with twine and tie a knot on both opposing sides of the heart. Continue this step with the remaining hearts until you create a garland.

Step 2: Leaving 1.5 inches for the end of the pipe cleaner, wrap the pipe cleaner around your finger and twist the end so that it is secure in place. A loop should be formed.

Step 3: Pinch the end of the pipe cleaner and roll it by following the remaining pipe cleaner to create what looks like a fruit roll-up.

Step 4: Bend the ring loop backward, so that it creates a 90º angle to the spiral.
